Job Description: Biosite is focused on developing novel diagnostics tests that are capable of immediately and accurately diagnosing and assessing critical conditions, which can take several hours or even days using conventional testing methods. Biosite's current and future products are comprised of point-of-care unit disposable, in-vitro diagnostic devices whose function depends on clinical biochemistry, surface chemistry, microfluidics, and process control. As a scientist, you will work independently to plan and execute studies to support the development and optimization of the immunoassays found in Biosite products as well as trouble shoot customer support and product manufacturing issues. The qualified candidate will also lead and/or be a member of cross functional teams that develop and improve Biosite’s products. Specific responsibilities for this position include:

•Independently design experiments, analyze results, and present findings
•Proactively identify and resolve technical and non-technical issues
• Apply judgment to prioritize efforts and resolve issues in a timely fashion
•Collaborate with cross functional teams to transfer new products to manufacturing or resolve product quality issues

Qualifications: This position requires a degree in the chemical sciences, life sciences, or related disciplines. M.S. with 6 to 8 years or Ph.D. with 2 to 4 years of relevant, industry experience preferred. Applicants should be highly organized with exceptional quantitative and analytical abilities. Additionally, the qualified applicant must be a team player who possesses effective communication/listening skills and a proven track record of success in research or product development. Demonstrated technical understanding of clinical assay development is desired. Hands-on experience with in-vitro diagnostic/medical device development and product commercialization processes (design control) is also preferred.
